Bloomsburg Falls to Millersville in BaseballMILLERSVILLE—Two Millersville University combined for a seven-hit shutout to lead the Marauders to a 5-0 win over Bloomsburg in game one of a PSAC Eastern Division doubleheader Wednesday afternoon. Game two was postponed due to rain. No makeup date has been announced for that game. With the two teams locked in a scoreless battled, the Marauders broke through for three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Matt Roberts led off by reaching on an error with Jon Shehan walking to put two runners on with no out. Both runners then advanced on a balk by Matt Wiltrout (Macungie/Emmaus). After Chad Gunzenhauser was intentionally walked to load the bases, Derek Hartland singled home Roberts and Shehan to make it 2-0. Shawn Clark then bounced into a fielder's choice with Gunzenhauser scoring to give Millersville a 3-0 lead. The Marauders then scored single runs in the fifth and sixth innings. Schueck doubled and later scored on a single by Roberts in the fifth with Gunzenhauser scoring on a sacrifice fly in the sixth. Bloomsburg's best scoring chance came in the fifth when the Huskies put back-to-back singles from Joe Pesci (Levittown/Pennsbury) and Jeremy Arner (Alburtis/Emmaus) to start the inning. However, the Marauders were able to get two fielder's choice plays and a strikeout to end the threat. Bloomsburg, 11-9, 0-1 in the PSAC, will be idle till Tuesday, April 1st when they visit Mansfield starting at 1 p.m. |
