Bloomsburg Baseball Falls to East Stroudsburg

NEWPORT NEWS, VA—The Bloomsburg University baseball team dropped its first game of the season on Friday losing to East Stroudsburg, 11-8, at The Apprentice School Builders Tournament.

Bloomsburg fell behind 7-0 after two innings, but cut the margin to 7-2 with a pair of runs in the third inning.

In the top of the fourth inning, the Warriors scored three more times to go up by a 10-2 count, then made it an 11-3 margin after the Huskies and East Stroudsburg each scored once.

The Huskies put three runs on the board in the bottom of the sixth to trail 11-6 and got two more in the bottom of the seventh to lose 11-8. The Huskies had the tying run at the plate in the bottom of the seventh with two outs but could not come up with a hit.

Jason Giordano went 1-4 with a two-run triple, while Larry Piccini was 2-4 with an RBI.

The Huskies, 1-1, face Lock Haven Saturday at 9 a.m.
