Bloomsburg Drops Baseball Twinbill in Florida

FORT MYERS, FL —The Bloomsburg University baseball team lost a pair of games on Friday falling 11-7 to Quincy University and 11-9 to Missouri-St. Louis (MSTL).

In the opener with Quincy, the Huskies fell behind 7-0 after three innings and 8-0 after five. Later trailing 11-2 heading into the bottom of the eighth inning, Bloomsburg scored three times in the home eighth and twice more in the ninth for an 11-7 final.

Joe Pesci (Levittown/Pennsbury) led the offense for the Huskies going 4-5 with an double and a RBI.

In the nightcap, the teams were tied 4-4 after four innings when MSTL scored two in the fifth, three in the sixth and two in the seventh. Bloomsburg tallied four times in the bottom of the seventh to get within 11-9 and brought the game-tying run to the plate. However, the batter struck out ending the game.

Matt Robinson (York/Red Lion) went 2-5 with a double and an RBI, while Vinny James (Philadelphia/Bristol) was 2-3 with a double and an RBI.

The Huskies, now 3-10, conclude their Florida trip on Saturday with games against New Haven and West Liberty.
