Bloomsburg Players Named All-PSAC in Baseball<

BLOOMSBURG—Bloomsburg University had three players named to the 2005 All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division baseball team.

Named first team was Ryan Wyland (Williamsport/Loyalsock Twp), while Joe Pesci (Levittown/Pennsbury) and Matt Robinson (York/Red Lion) both earned second team honors.

Wyland, a sophomore, saw time at second and third bases, designated hitter and also pitched in seven games. For the season he led the team in batting with a .385 mark; in homers with five; in slugging percentage with a mark of .592; hits with 50; runs with 33 and was tied for the lead in doubles with 10. He also had 19 RBI and stole five bases. During the season, Wyland also had 18 multi-hit games and hit safely in 11 straight games in the middle of the season.

As a pitcher, Wyland was 2-0 with a 4.50 ERA in 12 innings of work. At the end of March, he was named the PSAC East Player of the Week after leading the Huskies to a pair of wins over Lock Haven.

Pesci is a second team selection for the second straight year at first base. The senior, who was also named the team's MVP for the year, hit .344 during the season with two homers and 22 RBI. He was second on the team in slugging percentage with a mark of .467; second in hits with 42 and second in runs scored with 30. Pesci was also solid on defense committing just two errors in 274 chances during the year for a fielding percentage of .993.

Robinson, an outfielder, was named second team All-PSAC for the first time in his career. The sophomore hit .330 with six RBI and led the Huskies in stolen bases with 10 in 15 attempts. He also scored 21 runs and was third in base on balls with 13. During an eight-game stretch in Florida early in the year, Robinson hit .454 (15-33) with nine runs scored.
