Bloomsburg Drops Pair to Mansfield in Baseball

MANSFIELD —The Bloomsburg University baseball team dropped a pair of games to Mansfield on Tuesday by scores of 13-4 and 21-8.

In the opener, the Mountaineers scored nine times in the first inning and never looked back. The Huskies were led by Brian Tugend (Taylor/Riverside) who hit a hit a three-run homer for Bloomsburg in the sixth inning.

In the nightcap, the Huskies got off to a good start by scoring five times in the top of the first inning. Ryan Wyland (Williamsport/Loyalsock Twp) had a two-run homer in the inning with two other runs coming home on an error by Mansfield as well as a wild pitch.

However, Mansfield scored six times in the bottom of the first and added 11 more in the bottom of the second to take a 17-5 lead after two innings.

Wyland went 2-4 with two RBI, while Jeremy Eck (Williamsport/Montoursville) was 1-3 with two RBI.

Bloomsburg, 6-16, 0-4 in the PSAC East, will visit Kutztown on Friday at 1 p.m. for a twinbill.
