Baseball Holds its Second Annual Husky Diamond Challenge


BLOOMSBURG - On Monday, October 16, 2006 the Bloomsburg University baseball team began a-6 day strength and conditioning competition. The Huskies were divided into three teams, Maroon, Gold, and White. Each team competed against one another in eighteen events designed to test their strength, speed, and endurance. Some of the events included relay races while carrying logs, flipping tractor tires, and distance running. Other events featured swinging sledgehammers on tires, push-ups, and sprints.

"This competition signifies the end of our fall season and the beginning of our 10 week strength and conditioning program using traditional weights, plyometrics and running," said Head Coach Mike Collins. "This is fun way for our guys to compete with each other and test their abilities while getting a great workout. It is also an excellent team-building exercise."

Following the diamond challenge the team the team will begin the final phase of strength training that will take them through the holiday's right up until spring practice. The Huskies open their season on February 22 at the Apprentice School in Newport News, VA.
