Huskies Drop Pair to Mansfield

BLOOMSBURG -The Bloomsburg University baseball team lost a pair of games to Mansfield on Sunday afternoon. The Huskies fell in game one by a score of 6-4 and lost game two 6-3.

In game one, the Huskies took a 4-0 lead over the first four innings, scoring a run every single inning. Scott Kacelowicz (Orwigsburg/Blue Mountain/Kutztown Univ.) hit a solo home run and Mike Austin (Dallastown/NW Shoals JC) drove in two runs to give Bloomsburg the early advantage. Mansfield would respond in the bottom of the fourth, scoring six runs in one inning to take a 6-4 lead they would not surrender.

Vinny Vorhees (Lakaska/New Hope Solebury) (L, 3-3) took the loss for Bloomsburg.

In game two, Mansfield again took advantage of a big fourth inning, building a 5-1 lead after four. The Huskies would rally in the top of the sixth inning when Kevin Ward (Clifton Heights/Monsignor Bonner) hit a two-run home run to cut the Mansfield lead to two, but that was as close as they would come.

Grant Kernaghan (Upper Darby/Upper Darby) (3-1) suffered the loss for the Huskies.

With the losses, the Huskies fall to 12-20 overall, 3-11 in the PSAC East.

Bloomsburg returns to action tomorrow when they host Mansfield. The doubleheader gets underway at 1:00 p.m.
