Women's Soccer Assistant Coach Dave Shemilt

Beginning his first season as an assistant coach with the Bloomsburg University women's soccer team is David Robert Shemilt.

A native of Stoke-on-Trent, England, UK, Shemilt comes to Bloomsburg after serving one year as Assistant Men's Coach at King's College, Wilkes-Barre, PA. Prior to that he was an assistant coach of the Bloomsburg University men's soccer team.

Shemilt has worked a number of MLS camps as a player development officer/coach within a number of different soccer clubs with stops in in Alaska, Connecticut, Chicago, Michigan, San Francisco and San Jose, CA, along with stops in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York. He was involved with coaching recreational, travel, and elite teams while also instructing coaches.

As a player, he competed for six years with Port Vale F.C. in England, playing in the club's school of excellence, then in the Youth Training Scheme (YTS) before embarking on his coaching career. He began his coaching career in England where he became English Football Association (EFA) certified.

He spent six months in Groningen, Holland during an exchange program, studying at The Hanzehogeschool, a teaching academy for physical education teachers. While there, he coached Oranje Nassau, a semi-professional team in Holland. He also became KNVB certified, the equivalent of NSCAA certification.

He earned a Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree in Sports Science from the University of Worcester, England, in 2004 before completing his Master of Science degree in Sport Science from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in December, 2006. He is currently pursuing another master's degree at Bloomsburg University.
