Head Coach Monica Starrett
In seven seasons as head coach at Bloomsburg University, Monica Starrett has won the PSAC East Division three times, reached the NCAA Tournament "Sweet 16" twice, made seven consecutive PSAC playoff appearances and been named PSAC East Coach of the Year. In her first year at Bloomsburg Starrett set a school record for a first year coach with 22 wins. She has led the team to 20 wins or more in four of her seven seasons and has posted a record of 134-62 as coach of the Huskies for a winning percentage of .684. Starrett began her coaching career at East High School in Salt Lake City before joining the University of Utah staff as an assistant coach. While there she helped the Utes to two appearances in the Division I NCAA Championships and a Western Athletic Conference Championship (WAC). Following her stint at Utah Starrett became the head coach at Salt lake Community College (SLCC) where she guided the team to a record of 38-18 overall in two seasons and two second-place finishes in region 18. In addition, her team ranked 10th nationally in scoring defense and had six all region award winners. She also worked as an academic advisor to student athletes and was a physical education instructor. After SLCC, Starrett spent one year as an assistant coach at Bucknell University before taking over the head coaching position at Bloomsburg. A 1984 graduate of the University of Utah with a degree in physical education, Starrett was a three-year starter for the Utes and was named to the WAC All Star team twice. She still holds the Utah single game assist record with 15 and is 5th all time in assists with 402 and second in career assists average with a mark of 4.4. In addition to basketball, Starrett is an avid runner, having completed 12 marathons and qualified for the 1996 U.S. Olympic marathon Trials. Monica resides in Danville with her two children, Kate, 15 years old, and Kyle, 12 years old.
