Bloomsburg Tops Bridgeport in Overtime

BLOOMSBURG — A goal by Adam Grady (Malvern/Archbishop Carroll) with 4:11 remaining in the first overtime period was the difference, as the Bloomsburg University men's soccer team defeated Bridgeport 3-2 on Saturday.

The Huskies opened the scoring nine minutes into the first half when Kyle Benner (Sellersville/Pennridge) scored. Venus Cherry (Castries, St.Lucia/Castries) and Luke Haile (Bloomsburg/Central Columbia) were credited with assists on the goal. Bridgeport then came back to score back to back goals by David Tuesta and Jon Ruddock to make to the score 2-1. With 1:39 left in the first half, Justin McLennan (Wyndmoor/Springfield Twp.) scored after bobbing and weaving through the Bridgeport defense. The goal knotted the score at two apiece going into the half. Both teams then went scoreless the entire second half.

With the win, Bloomsburg improves their record to 4-3 overall. The Huskies will return to action on September 21st when they visit PSAC rival Lock Haven.
