Three Women's Soccer Players Named All-PSAC


BLOOMSBURG- Bloomsburg University women's soccer players Brittany McKew (Baltimore, MD/Perry Hall) and Angela Brown (Sparta, NJ/Sparta) earned first team All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC), while Christina Mazurek (Hatfield/North Penn) earned second-team honors.

McKew, a sophomore, scored four goals in 2005, including two game-winning goals. In the Huskies' Oct. 26 win over Shippensburg, McKew scored a goal in the 93rd minute to break a 1-1 tie and give Bloomsburg the 2-1 overtime win. Earlier in the season, McKew lifted the Huskies to a 2-1 win, scoring a goal with less than two minutes to play in the game.

Brown, in her rookie campaign, anchored a Bloomsburg defense who allowed 170 shots, compared to 224 for the Huskies, and had a goals against average of 1.43. The Huskies' defense also held opponents to 8.5 shots per game, while Bloomsburg's attack averaged 11.2.

In her junior year, Mazurek finished with four goals on the season and made eight starts for the Huskies. She scored in the Huskies' 2-1 win over Philadelphia and scored Bloomsburg's only goal in a 1-1 tie with West Chester.

Bloomsburg finished the season with a 6-10-4 record, 3-6-3 in the PSAC East and were fourth in the overall standings for the PSAC East conference.
