Bloomsburg Women's Soccer Downs Philadelphia
BLOOMSBURG — A late goal by Brittany McKew (Baltimore, MD/Perry Hall) lifted the Bloomsburg Women's Soccer team to a 2-1 win over Philadelphia University on Thursday.
The Huskies took the lead late in the first period when Christina Mazurek (Hatfield/North Penn) scored on an assist from Katie Armitage (Saylorsburg/Stroudsburg). The teams played scoreless defense until the 81st minute when Philadelphia broke through with a goal by Diana Bowen. Bloomsburg and Philadelphia traded red cards after Bowen's goal.
McKew's game winner came on an assist from Ashley Brucker (Blairstown, NJ/North Warren) with just under two minutes to play in the game.
Goalie Robin Gerber (Succasunna, NJ/Roxbury) recorded five saves for the Huskies while Philadelphia's Sara Hall stopped nine.
Bloomsburg improves its record to 5-4-4 overall. The Huskies host East Stroudsburg in a PSAC East match up on October 11th at 2 p.m.
