Bloomsburg University Assistant Football Coaches

Jim Monos
Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks

Jim Monos begins his fourth season on the Bloomsburg staff after spending 11 years as head coach at Lebanon Valley College (LVC). At LVC, Monos was the 1989 Middle Atlantic Conference Co-Coach of the Year and served as assistant athletic director from 1992-96. Prior to taking over the head coaching spot at Lebanon Valley, he was the offensive coordinator at Shippensburg University for six seasons, following two years as a part-time coach. Monos earned all-conference honors in both football and baseball at Shippensburg before graduating in 1972. A native of Shippensburg, Monos is a member of the Shippensburg University. Athletic Hall of Fame.

Paul Darragh Defensive
Coordinator/Secondary

Paul Darragh enters his fourth season at Bloomsburg following two years at Indiana (PA) coaching linebackers. Darragh started his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Temple under John Devlin from 1987-89. From there, Darragh was the linebackers' coach at Northeastern and Gannon before being promoted to defensive coordinator at Gannon. He moved from Gannon to the defensive coordinator post at William Paterson College before joining the Indiana (PA) staff. A three-year starter for Temple, he graduated in 1985 after earning All-East honors as an outside linebacker.

Al Holcomb
Linebackers

Holcomb begins his third season as linebackers coach for the Huskies.

Prior to Bloomsburg, Holcomb coached at Colby (ME) College where he was also in charge of coaching the linebackers. Before Colby, he was a graduate assistant at Temple University for two years working with the linebackers and an administrative assistant at West Virginia University, where he earned undergraduate and graduate degrees.

Brian McBryan
Offensive Line

Brian McBryan begins his eighth season at Bloomsburg. He previously coached the offensive line for one year at Bucknell, was the defensive line coach at Susquehanna University for six seasons, and served prior stints at Milton, Danville and Renovo-Bucktail high schools. McBryan is a 1980 graduate of Lock Haven, where he was a three-year starter as an offensive lineman. He was a member of the Bald Eagles' 1979 PSAC championship squad.

Lou Mingrone Kickers/
Academic Adviser

Lou Mingrone has been in charge of the Huskies' kickers since the 1983 season and has helped Bloomsburg's kicking game establish 10 school records during his tenure. He served as the Huskies' head soccer coach for eight years, compiling a record of 66-42-4 before joining the football coaching staff . Mingrone is also the chairman of the

Department of Biological and Allied Health Sciences at Bloomsburg.

Bill Perkins
Defensive Line/
Strength & Conditioning

Bill Perkins is in his seventh season as the defensive line and strength and conditioning coach for the Huskies. A 1989 graduate of Slippery Rock, Perkins is a health and physical education teacher and athletic director in the Bloomsburg School District. At Slippery Rock, Perkins played in 38 of 40 games as a defensive tackle for the Rockets from 1986-89. He registered 129 career tackles during that span and was honored as a PSAC West second team selection in 1989.

Dave Shuga
Running Backs

Dave Shuga begins his second year at Bloomsburg after spending three years at Wilkes University. A native of Berwick, Shuga is a graduate of Bloomsburg with both undergraduate and graduate degrees in elementary and special education. A former player for the Huskies, Shuga has previously coached at Indiana (PA) University and Elkton (MD) and Carlisle high schools.

Shuga is a special education teacher in the Hazleton Area School District.

Frank Williams
Defensive Line

Frank Williams boasts the most years (24) as a member of the Bloomsburg coaching staff and has served under five head coaches. Joining the Huskies in 1976, he spent the 1981 season at Bucknell, before returning to Bloomsburg upon George Landis' arrival in 1982. He has been with Bloomsburg in every season since that time. Williams attended Kutztown where he was an All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference selection and is a member of that university's Athletic Hall of Fame.
