Huskies Place 17 on All-PSAC Football Team

BLOOMSBURG—Seventeen members of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division champion Bloomsburg University football team have been named to the All-PSAC team. In addition, Bloomsburg head coach Danny Hale was named the PSAC Eastern Division Coach of the Year.

Named first team All-PSAC Offense were running back Marques Glaze (Robesonia/Conrad Weiser), wide receiver Mike Lelko (Phillipsburg, NJ/Phillipsburg), tight end Brian Sullivan (Media/Penncrest), tackles Jeff Smith (Pitman, NJ/Pitman), Sean Flueso (Coplay/Parkland), Manny Henrie (Berwick/Berwick) and Matt Russel (Chesapeake, VA/Great Bridge).

Named first team All-PSAC Defense were lineman Brian Sims (Downington/Downington), linebacker Jeremiah Dyer (Berwick/Berwick) and defensive back Toyae Berry (Easton/Easton).

Named second team All-PSAC Offense were guard Chris Mullin (Plymouth Meeting/Wissahickon), wide receiver Tierell Johnson (Harrisburg/C. D. East) and quarterback Eric Miller (Clarks Summit/Abington Heights).

Named second team All-PSAC Defense were linebackers Matt Keys (West Fairview/East Pennsboro) and Greg Roskos (Scranton/West Scranton) and defensive backs Trent Flick (Bloomsburg/Central Columbia) and Rudy Garcia (Harrisburg/Central Dauphin).

Glaze, a junior, took over at tailback after starter Arrastene Henry went down with an injury against Cheyney in week four. All he did in one half of football against the Wolves was rush for a career-high 218 yards and three touchdowns. For the year, Glaze rushed 199 times for 1,354 yards and scored a team-high 14 touchdowns. Glaze is also a key member of the Huskies' punt return unit making several tackles this season. It is Glaze's first All-PSAC selection.

Lelko, a senior, broke several Bloomsburg University career-receiving marks this season. He is the school's all-time leader in pass receptions with 229, career receiving yards with 3,151 and career receiving touchdowns with 34. For the year, Lelko has 61 catches for 952 yards and 12 scores. Lelko was a first team All-PSAC in 1998 and a second team selection last year.

Sullivan, a senior, was a key blocker and pass receiver for the Huskies this season. Along with opening holes for the running game, Sullivan also caught 11 passes for 146 yards and 1 touchdown. It is Sullivan's first All-PSAC selection.

Tackles Jeff Smith and Sean Flueso, guard Manny Henrie and center Matt Russel, all seniors, were part of an line that helped the Huskies to one of the best offensive attacks in the league. The Huskies were first in the PSAC in total offense (432.5 yds/gm), scoring offense (33.5 pnts/gm), and finish third in pass offense (202 yds/gm) as well as third in rushing offense (230.2 yds/gm).

Smith was second team All-PSAC and first team All-ECAC a year ago, while Flueso was a second team selection in 1998. Both Henrie and Russel were 1999 first team All-PSAC choices.

Sims, a senior, was fifth on the team in tackles with 36 while making six tackles for loss and two sacks. Sims was the leader of a defense that finished second in the conference in total defense (289.6 yds/gm).

Dyer, a junior, was second on the team in tackles with 91, including 43 solo stops. Dyer also had four tackles for loss, one sack and four pass breakups. His best game was against Slippery Rock at the end of the regular season when he made nine stops, including four solo tackles.

Berry, a junior, tied for the PSAC lead in interceptions with five this year while making 32 tackles, 20 of them solo. He also returned one interception for a touchdown against Lock Haven. This is Berry's first selection to the All-PSAC team.

Mullin, a red-shirt freshman, moved into the starting lineup in game two and has been a fixture there the rest of the year. He was part of an offensive line that helped produce twelve, 100-yard rushing performances this season.

Miller, a senior, had another solid season for the Huskies leading the PSAC in pass efficiency (155.3) and ranking fifth in total offense (181.2 yds/gm). For the year, Miller was 142-238 for 2,060 yards, 9 interceptions and 22 touchdowns. He will finish his career as the school's all-time leader in yards passing (7,474), touchdown passes (70), completions (527) and completion percentage (57.5%).

Johnson, a sophomore, emerged as the Huskies' deep-threat this season after seeing limited time as a freshman. In 11 games, Johnson was second on the team in receptions with 34 for 624 yards and seven scores. His 18.4 yards per reception led the team. Johnson, selected for the first time to the All-PSAC team, had his best game of the regular season against Kutztown when he caught eight passes for 151 yards and one score.

Keys, a sophomore, was third on the team in tackles with 83, including 43 solo stops. He also had seven tackles for loss, three sacks, three pass breakups, two fumble recoveries and one interception. This is Keys' first selection to the All-PSAC team.

Roskos, a junior, led the Huskies in tackles with 93, 53 of them solo stops. He also had 15 tackles for loss, seven sacks and one fumble recovery in the regular season. This is his first selection to the All-PSAC team.

Flick, a senior, was fourth on the team in tackles with 47, including 22 solo stops. He also had one interception, three pass breakups and one fumble recovery. This is Flick's first appearance on the All-PSAC team.

Garcia, a sophomore, was fifth on the team in tackles with 32, with 22 of them being solo hits. Garcia also had two tackles for loss, one sack, two interceptions and three pass breakups.

Hale, in his eighth season with the Huskies and 13th overall, earns the PSAC East Coach of the Year honors for the seventh time. His overall record as head coach is 102-39-1 and 62-26-1, a .718 winning percentage. Among Hale's accomplishments as Huskies' head coach are five PSAC East titles, two NCAA playoff appearances and four American Football Coaches Association District Coach of the Year awards. Hale also coached Irv Sigler, the winner of the 1997 Harlon Hill Award, the Division II equivalent of the Heisman Trophy.
