Glaze Leads Huskies to Easy Win

BLOOMSBURG—Tailback Marques Glaze (Robesonia/Conrad Weiser) rushed a career-high 218 yards and three touchdowns to lead Bloomsburg University to a 48-6 win over Cheyney University Saturday afternoon.

The Huskies improved to 2-2, 1-0 in the PSAC East, while Cheyney falls to 2-1, 0-1 in the PSAC.

Glaze, who took over at tailback for injured starter Arrastene Henry (Philadelphia/Geo. Washington) in the first quarter, got the Huskies rolling with a three-yard touchdown run with 5:38 to play in the first to cap a six-play, 73-yard drive. Quarterback Eric Miller (Clarks Summit/Abington Heights) scrambled for 40 yards on the first play for the drive.

Miller later threw a five-yard scoring pass to Mike Lelko (Phillipsburg, NJ/Phillipsburg) with 2:44 left to play in the first to make it 14-0. In the second period, Miller threw to tight end Allen Lechthaler (Hershey/Hershey) for a 22-yard score to make it 20-0 after the missed extra point. Glaze scored his second touchdown of the game on a two-yard run with 4:53 left before halftime to cap a five-play, 72 yard drive.

Glaze put an exclamation point on his outstanding half of football when he ran 71 yards for a score with 39 seconds left before the break. In all, Glaze rushed 18 times in the first half for 218 yards and three scores. He did not play offensively in the second half, seeing time only on special teams.

In the second half, Julius King (Philadelphia/Lincoln) caught a 27-yard pass from Chris Thompson to make it 41-0 with Solomon Melson (Philadelphia/Milton Hershey) going in from two-yards out with 13:50 left to play making it a 48-0 game.

Cheyney got its only points on a seven-yard run from John Chestnut with 2:14 to play. The drive was setup after the Huskies muffed a punt return and Cheyney recovered deep in Bloomsburg territory.

Along with Glaze, Melson gained 73 yards on 16 carries to lead 12 Bloomsburg rushers. Defensively, Matt Keys (West Fairview/East Pennsboro) had 10 tackles and Greg Roskos (Scranton/West Scranton) had eight for the Huskies.

In all, the Huskies 485 had yards in total offense, 365 of it on the ground. The defense limited the Wolves to just 228 yards of total offense.

Bloomsburg will travel to West Chester for a 7 p.m. game next Saturday, while Cheyney will host Mansfield at 1 p.m.
