Bloomsburg Knocks Indiana (PA) from Ranks of Unbeaten

BLOOMSBURG—Tailback Marques Glaze (Robesonia/Conrad Weiser) rushed for 215 yards and scored three touchdowns leading Bloomsburg University to a 38-14 win over Indiana (PA) University (IUP) Saturday afternoon. The Huskies improved to 4-2 with the win, while the Indians, ranked fifth in the country, fall to 4-1 on the season. It was Bloomsburg's first win over IUP since 1985.

Bloomsburg scored first in the game when Chris Thompson connected on a 26-yard field goal with 8:43 left in the first period. The field goal capped an eight-play, 66-yard drive.

The Huskies increased the lead to 10-0 on its next possession when quarterback Eric Miller (Clarks Summit/Abington Heights) threw a 25-yard scoring pass to Tierell Johnson (Harrisburg/C.D. East) with 5:30 left in the first period. The touchdown pass was the 58th of Miller's career, setting a new Bloomsburg mark.

A turnover led to the Huskies' next score. Freshman Bryant Stone (Norwich, CT/Worcester Acad.) sacked and forced a fumble from Indiana quarterback Brian Eyerman. Stone returned the loose ball to the Indians' 27-yard line. Four plays later, Miller hit Mike Lelko (Phillipsburg, NJ/Phillipsburg) with a nine yard scoring pass to make it 17-0, Bloomsburg at the end of the first period.

Glaze scored his first touchdown of the game with 5:19 to play before halftime on a five-yard run to make it 24-0, Bloomsburg. The score was setup when the Huskies recovered a fumble at the Indians' five-yard after a muffed punt return. Linebacker Mike Bolinsky (Collegeville/Perkiomen Valley) recovered giving the Huskies first and goal.

IUP trimmed the deficit to 24-7 with 2:16 before halftime when Carmelo Ocasio caught a 12-yard scroing pass from Eyerman capping a nine play, 71-yard drive.

The Indians looked as though they were going to climb back into the game when Aamir Drew scored on a two-yard run with 11:24 to play in the third period. The Huskies, however, got a 40-yard touchdown run from Glaze later in the third to make it 31-14. Glaze finished the scoring with a nine-yard run with 11:14 left to play.

Glaze finished the day with 258 all-purpose yards after catching three passes for 43 yards in addition to his rushing total. In his last three games, Glaze is averaging just over 200 yards per game.

Defensively, linebacker Matt Keys (West Fairview/East Pennsboro) had 13 tackles to lead Bloomsburg. The Huskies, with one of the top run defenses in the country, held the Indians to just 58 yards on the ground. IUP's Mike Borisenko had a game-high 17 tackles.

Bloomsburg will host East Stroudsburg next week, while the Indians host Shippensburg.
