BLOOMSBURG—Tierell Johnson's (Harrisburg/Central Dauphin) 24-yard touchdown reception with 4:56 remaining in the game proved to be the difference as Bloomsburg University rallied to beat Millersville University, 21-20, in PSAC Eastern Division action Saturday afternoon.
Bloomsburg, 7-2, 5-0 in the PSAC, wins its seventh straight game, while Millersville falls to 6-2, 5-1 in the PSAC. The Marauders came into the game ranked number one in the NCAA Northeast Region with the Huskies fifth in the regional rankings.
Johnson's touchdown catch capped off a wild fourth period of play, which saw 20 points scored between the two teams. On the game-winning play, Bloomsburg quarterback Eric Miller (Clarks Summit/Abington Heights) rolled to his left and with plenty of time hit Johnson who got behind the defense in the back of the endzone and made a diving catch of the throw. The point after was good from Chris Thompson (Manheim Twp/Manheim Central) giving Bloomsburg the lead.
On the ensuing drive Bloomsburg was able to stop the Maruaders get the ball back on downs with 2:58 left to play. Taking over at the Millersville 28-yard line, the Huskies moved the ball to the 10 yard line before fumbling the ball away on a third and seven play with 35 seconds remaining. Millersville recovered the ball giving itself one more chance. After a completion of 11 yards on the first play, Millersville quarterback Drew Folmar threw three incompletes and an interception on the game's final play.
Millersville took advantage of a Bloomsburg turnover in the first period to get on the board first. Taking over on the Huskies five-yard line after a fumble by Miller was returned 20 yards, Ali Johnson scored on a two-yard with 6:38 left in the first. Andy Ryzewski kicked the extra point giving Millersville a 7-0 lead.
The Maruders had several other scoring opportunities in the first half but came up empty on a missed field goal and a block field goal attempt by Ryzewski.

The Marauders wasted little time in taking back the lead marching 69 yards in just four plays on the ensuing drive with Dondre Gilliam taking a shovel pass from Folmar and tight-roping down the sideline for the score. The point after attempt failed after a bad snap proving later to be the difference in the game.
