Matt Keys Named PSAC Eastern Division Player of the Week

Matt Keys

BLOOMSBURG—Bloomsburg University linebacker Matt Keys (West Fairview/East Pennsboro) was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Defensive Player of the Week for his play in the Huskies victory over West Chester this past Saturday.

Keys finished the game with 12 tackles, six of them solo, but it was fumble recovery and return which turned the game around for Bloomsburg. With West Chester inside the Huskies' five-yard line, Keys picked up a loose ball on a bad handoff and ran a school-record 96 yards for a touchdown to give Bloomsburg a 21-14 lead with 2:24 left before halftime. Bloomsburg went on to post a 27-14 win and remain unbeaten.

For his season stats Keys is third in tackles for the Huskies with 27 tackles (14 solo), one interception for 17 yards and three recovered fumbles.

Bloomsburg (4-0) will take on the Indiana (PA) (3-0) this Saturday kickoff at 1 pm. In NCAA Northeast Regional rankings Bloomsburg is second with IUP third. The top four teams in the region at the end of the season advance to postseason competition.
