Thompson Named PSAC Eastern Division Player of the Week

BLOOMSBURG—Bloomsburg University quarterback Chris Thompson (Manheim/Manheim) was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Player of the Week after his outstanding effort in the Huskies win 41-6 over Mansfield.

Thompson completed 17-of-20 passes for 247 yards and four touchdowns, a career-high. His completion percentage of 85 percent broke the school single-game record.

In the first series of the game Thompson completed a 30-yard scoring pass to Tierell Johnson(Harrisburg/C.D. East) giving the Huskies an early 7-0 lead. With only minutes left in the first quarter, Thompson again found Johnson, this time for a 22-yard touchdown. Late in the second quarter Thompson connected with Rocco Forgione (Jessup/Valley View) for a seven-yard touchdown giving the Huskies a 34-6 halftime lead. In the second half, Johnson caught a 37-yard pass from Thompson for the final touchdown of the game.

For the season, Thompson has completed 78-of-137 passes for 1,178 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Bloomsburg 6-1, 4-0 in PSAC East will travel to Millersville University on Saturday. Kickoff is at 1 p.m.
