Bloomsburg's Marques Glaze to Play in Cactus Bowl

BLOOMSBURG-A chance to play one more game for Bloomsburg University's Marques Glaze (Robesonia/Conrad Weiser) as he takes to the field in to play in the Whataburger Cactus Bowl, a Division II football all-star game which features some of the country's top seniors. The match-up will take place Friday, January 11 at Javelina Stadium in Kingsville, Texas. Local kickoff time for this year's all-star game is slated for 6:30 p.m. (7:30 p.m. in the Eastern Time Zone). The format for the game will pit the East vs. the West. The bowl game is the former Snow Bowl, played from 1994-2000 in Fargo, N.D.

Glaze, the PSAC Eastern Division Offensive Player of the Year in 2001, rushed for 1,327 yards and 12 touchdowns on 211 carries as the primary running back in the Huskies' rushing attack last year. A senior co-captain, Glaze also claimed first team All-PSAC East honors for the second straight season after averaging 6.3 yards per carry and 132.7 yards per game. He also caught five passes for 79 yards and has made one tackle while regularly playing on the punt coverage team.

Glaze was a Northeast Regional Finalist for the Harlon Hill Trophy, given to the best player in NCAA Division II football. During the 2001 season Glaze received PSAC East Offensive Player of the Week honors after he rushed for a career-high 222 yards and scored four touchdowns against rival East Stroudsburg. Glaze finished his career as the third all-time leading rusher in school history with 3,331 yards.

In addition to Glaze, the PSAC will be represented by players from five other universities. Indiana (PA) has two representatives; running back Aamir Dew and defensive back Joey Flora, in the game. Other players include Slippery Rock running back Dorrian Glenn, Edinboro offensive tackle Greg Tarbell, Shippensburg defensive tackle Chad Oberholzer and East Stroudsburg punter Adam Hostetter.

The Cactus Bowl will once again be broadcast live by Fox Sports Southwest. Viewers with satellite systems can tune into Direct TV channel 643 or Dish Network channel 416.

A game story and statistics on the Cactus Bowl football game will be on the Texas A&M-Kingsville website (www.tamuk.edu/athletics) around 11:30 p.m. Eastern. Numerous NFL scouts are once again expected to be in attendance. Since its inception in 1994, more than 90 participants in the Division II all-star game have signed with NFL teams, including 25 from last year's game.
