Brown Named PSAC East Offensive Player of the Week

BLOOMSBURG —Bloomsburg University tailback Julius Brown (New Holland/Garden Spot) was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Offensive Player of the Week after rushing for a career high 169 yards and one touchdown in a 31-21 win over Kutztown this past Saturday.

Brown, a 5-10, 199 pound junior, who came into the Kutztown game with just 277 yards rushing for the season, averaged 6.3 yards on 27 carries against the Golden Bears and scored the game-clinching touchdown for the Huskies in the fourth period on a four-yard run.

In the Huskies second scoring drive of the game Brown gained 40 of the 64 yards in the drive with his running. On the game-clinching drive late in third and early in the fourth periods, Brown rushed for 42 of the 45 yards in the drive, going the final four yards for the score.

Bloomsburg, 5-2, 2-1 in the PSAC East, will host Cheyney Saturday at 1 p.m. in its next game.
