Bloomsburg University Football Players Shine at the East Coast Bowl
BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University football team sent five players to the second annual East Coast Bowl held at Cameron Field in Petersburg, Virginia on Saturday, November 30. The East Coast Bowl showcases Division II and III football players from as far north as Maine to as far south as South Carolina to professional scouts from the NFL and the Arena Football League.
The five Huskies' who played in the all-star game included fullback Jamison McLaughlin (Petersburg, VA/Petersburg), offensive lineman Brian Bingaman (Northumberland/Shikellamy), defensive lineman Dave Armstrong (Doyelestown/Central Bucks West), and wide receivers Rocco Forgione (Peckville/Valley View) and Tierell Johnson (Central Dauphin East/Harrisburg).
The format for the contest was North versus South, with the North claiming a 30-17 victory. Both offensive touchdowns scored by the North were done so by Bloomsburg players.
Forgione started things off by catching a 15-yard pass for a score 3:24 into the contest to take the North to a 7-0 lead. Johnson scored the other offensive touchdown for the North on a 48-yard reception late in the third quarter, which put the North up by the eventual final score of 30-17.
