INDIANA, PA— Quarterback Brian Eyerman threw for 273 yards and two touchdowns and tailback Elice Parker rushed for 102 yards and scored three times to lead Indiana University (PA) to a 37-18 win over Bloomsburg University in the season opener for the Huskies. With the win, Indiana improves to 1-1 on the year.

The Indians wasted little time in getting on the board as they took the opening kickoff and marched 73 yards in six plays with J.R. Thomas catching a 13-yard scoring pass from Eyerman with 12:37 left to play in the first period.

Later in the period the Indians would make it 14-0 when Parker, a transfer from Louisiana State University, ran six yards for a score to cap an eight play, 83-yard scoring drive with 6:41 to play in the period.

The Huskies put their first points of the year on the board early in the second period courtesy of its placekicker, Tim Oliver. The sophomore kicker drilled a career-long 41-yard field goal with 13:46 to play before halftime to cut the margin to 14-3.

However, on the ensuing drive, Indiana marched 62 yards with Parker going the final six yards for the score to make it a 21-3 game with 12:07 left in the second period.

The Indians struck before halftime for one more score. Eyerman capped a 75-yard scoring drive with a 29-yard pass to Carmelo Ocasio to give the home team a 27-3 lead at halftime after the extra point failed.

Bloomsburg mounted a comeback in the second half after it took the kickoff to start the half and marched 58 yards in nine plays with quarterback Andrew Herrmann connecting on his first career touchdown pass, a 14-yard shovel throw to Jamison McLaughlin with 10:52 left in the third. Herrmann, a red-shirt senior, had only thrown five passes in his career prior to today's game. McLaughlin then converted a two-point conversion throw to him to cut the deficit to 27-11.

After the Huskies forced a punt from IUP in the next series, Bloomsburg had a great opportunity to really get back in the game. The Huskies marched down to Indiana nine-yard with a first goal. However, two incomplete passes and a sack pushed the ball back to the 19-yard line. Oliver then missed wide on a 36-yard field goal try.

IUP increased its lead to 30-11 late in the third period on a 42-yard field goal by Josh Telenko before the Huskies got one more score in the fourth period to trim the margin once again. Huskies tailback Julius Brown scored two-yards out and Oliver connected on the points after to made it 30-18 with 4:33 to play.

After a failed on-sides kick, IUP got one final score when Parker went scored on an 18-yard run to make the final 37-18.
