Forgione and Steffen Named PSAC Football Players of the Week

BLOOMSBURG—Bloomsburg University swept the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Football Awards after the Huskies beat Millersville, 49-26, Oct. 12th. Picking up the Offensive Player of the Week award was Rocco Forgione (Peckville/Valley View), while Eric Steffen (Catawissa/Southern Columbia) was named the Defensive Player of the Week.

Forgione, a wide receiver, had a career game making seven receptions for 234 yards, an average of 33.4 yards per catch, for four touchdowns. Forgione made TD catches of 11, 39, 45 and 70 yards to tie a school record previously accomplished three other times. Forgione nearly had a school-record fifth touchdown, but was tackled four yards short of the endzone after a 47-yard gain. All seven of Bloomsburg's pass completions during the game went to Forgione.

For the season, Forgione has caught 36 passes for 720 yards and nine touchdowns. He leads the PSAC in receiving yards with 12 0 per game and is second in receptions with 6.0 per game. He is also second in scoring with 9.0 points per game. A senior, Forgione moved up on the Huskies all-time lists for receptions and receiving yards with his big game this past weekend. He is now ninth in both receptions (82) and in receiving yards (1,287) in Bloomsburg history.

Steffen, a junior linebacker, made a career-high 16 tackles against Millersville, including eight solo stops. He also three tackles for loss as the Huskies improved to 4-2 on the season.

Steffen is second on the Huskies with 56 tackles and fifth overall in the PSAC with 9.3 tackles per game. He has made 26 solo stops and has two sacks this season.

Bloomsburg will visit Kutztown Saturday starting at 1:05 p.m.
