Huskies Ranked 14th in Pre-Season Poll

BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University football team is ranked 14th by Street and Smith magazine in its annual pre-season issue.

The Huskies are coming off a season in which they went 9-2 and won their second straight PSAC Eastern Division title and made their second straight trip to the NCAA playoffs under coach Danny Hale. Over the last two seasons the Huskies are 21-5, one of only five teams in Division II to reach 20 or more wins the last two seasons.

This year's team will be led by its trio of captains, Brian Bingaman (Northumberland/Shikellamy), Matt Keys (West Fairview/Pennsboro) and Rocco Forgione (Peckville/Valley View).

Bingman is a two-year starter on the offensive line, while Keys will be a three-year starter at linebacker and Forgione will be a two-year starter at wide receiver.

Bloomsburg will open its season Saturday, Sept. 7th on the road at ninth-ranked Indiana (PA) starting at 7 p.m. The Indians are defending PSAC West Division champs. The Huskies also face two other ranked opponents during the year. East Stroudsburg, ranked 19th, comes to Bloomsburg Oct. 5th, while Bloomsburg visits 21st ranked Kutztown Oct. 19th.
