Steffen Named PSAC East and National Defensive Player of the Week

BLOOMSBURG—Bloomsburg University linebacker Eric Steffen (Catawissa/Southern Columbia) was named the PSAC Eastern Division Defensive Player of the Week for his play against West Chester this past Saturday. Steffen was also honored by d2football.com as the National Defensive Player of the Week.

Steffen led a defensive effort that held West Chester to 161 yards below its season average in a 23-10 Bloomsburg win. He recorded 14 tackles, including nine solo, two tackles for loss, a sack for minus 11 yards and a game-clinching interception. West Chester, which came in averaging 409 yards per game, was held to 248 yards of total offense.

For the year Steffen leads the Huskies in tackles with 84 tackles, 44 of them solo. Steffen also has made 15 tackles for loss and has four sacks and two interceptions.

Steffen was previously honored as the PSAC East Defensive Player of the Week following the Huskies game on Oct. 13th.

Bloomsburg, 7-2, 4-1 in the PSAC East, will conclude its regular season on Saturday, Nov. 9th at Mansfield starting at 1 p.m.
