BLOOMSBURG—Two Bloomsburg University football players were named to the D2football.com All-Northeast Region team for the 2004 season.
Jahri Evans (Philadelphia/Frankford) was selected to the first-team as an offensive lineman while Mike Ceroli (Medford, NJ/Lenape) was named to the second-team as a running back.
Evans, a junior, helped pave the way for the Huskies to rush for a school record 299.4 yards per game. The Huskies had a 1,000 rusher this season and another back with 991 yards on the ground. He helped the Huskies gain over 400 yards on the ground in a game three times this season. The Huskies also rushed for over 500 in a single game this year thanks to Evans' efforts.
An American Football Coaches of America Division II All-American and a member of the Daktronics All-Northeast Region first-team, Evans averaged four pancake blocks per game and graded out at 90 percent. He also played special teams for the Huskies.
Evans is also a national finalist for the Gene Upshaw Lineman of the Year Award which will presented next month at the Cactus Bowl.
Ceroli rushed for a career-high 1,269 yards and 11 scores in 2004. He finished third in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference in rushing with 126.9 yards per game and was eight in the conference in all-purpose yards, averaging 129.7 per game. Ceroli also finished ninth in the conference in offensive yards per play, averaging 7.1 yards per touch. His best game of the season came against Cheyney, where he rushed for a career-high 224 yards and four scores on only 16 carries.
Ceroli finished his career with 3,170 rushing yards, good enough for fourth in school history.
The Huskies finished the 2004 campaign at 7-3, good enough for third in the PSAC East.
