BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University football coaching staff has named seniors-to-be Jack Lydic (Selinsgrove/Selinsgrove) and Jahri Evans (Philadelphia/Frankford) team captains for the 2005 football season.

Lydic will be the Huskies starting signal caller for the third consecutive season. He threw for 1,161 yards and nine scores last season including a 223-yard, two touchdown performance in a 34-24 win over then 18th ranked Indiana (PA).

Lydic has 3,051 career yards passing and is currently ranked sixth all-time in Bloomsburg history.

Evans, an offensive tackle, helped Bloomsburg rush for a school record 2,994 yards in 2004. The Huskies led the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) in rushing and ranked 5th in the nation as a team. Bloomsburg had a 1,000 yard rusher and another back with 991 yards rushing a season ago thanks in part to Evans.

For his efforts, Evans received national recognition being named a first-team All-American by the American Football Coaches Association and first team member of the Daktronics All-Northeast Region team. Evans was an Associated Press Little All-American second-team member, a first-team All-PSAC member, and a member of division2football.com's All-Northeast Region Team. He was also a 2004 finalist for the Gene Upshaw Lineman of the Year Award.

The Huskies finished the 2004 season with a 7-3, 4-2 PSAC East record. Bloomsburg opens the 2005 season at home versus Slippery Rock on August 27th.
