Brittingham Finishes Third in Harlon Hill Balloting


FLORENCE, AL- Bloomsburg University sophomore tailback Jamar Brittingham (Levittown/Neshaminy) finished third in balloting for the Harlon Hill Award, Division II's Player of the Year.

Brittingham finished with 96 points compared to 121 from winner Jimmy Terwillger of East Stroudsburg and 107 for Wesley Beschorner of South Dakota.

Brittingham became just the second sophomore and the the first since 1987 to be named one of the three finalists for the award. This past year Brittingham led the country in rushing yards per game with 187.5 and in scoring average with 17.5 points per game. He totaled 2,060 yards rushing and was named the PSAC Eastern Division Player of the Year. He also earned PSAC East Player of the Week five times during the season.

Brittingham was bidding to become Bloomsburg's second Harlon Hill winner as Irv Sigler won the award in 1997.
