Bloomsburg Football Players Recognized by D2Football.com
BLOOMSBURG — Three members of the Bloomsburg University football team were recognized on Tuesday as honorable mentions by D2football.com in their weekly Players of the Week selections for their play in the Huskies NCAA Playoff game last week.
Picking up an offensive honorable mention was Jamar Brittingham (Levittown/Neshaminy) who rushed for 200 yards on 29 carries and scored two touchdowns in Bloomsburg’s 52-39 loss to East Stroudsburg. Brittingham ended his sophomore campaign with 2,260 yards, the most in the history of the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PSAC) for a season. He also finished the season with the PSAC records for rushing touchdowns in a season (32), touchdowns in a season (34) and points in a season (204).
Defensive honorable mention went to red shirt sophomore Rob Biernat (Bristol/Conwell Egan) who recorded a game and career high 17 tackles against East Stroudsburg. Biernat ends the 2005 season as Bloomsburg’s leading tackler with 87 total tackles. He also recorded 5.5 tackles for a loss and two sacks.
Senior kicker Garrett Bloom (Sunbury/Shikellamy) garnered a special team honorable mention for his performance against East Stroudsburg. Bloom was a perfect three for three on the day, connecting on field goals from 23, 29, and 34 yards out. He also was a perfect four for four on extra points. The three field goal’s by Bloom tied a school single-game record. He also broke the school record for extra-point total in a season with 54.
