Bloomsburg's Evans Invited to NFL Scouting Combine

BLOOMSBURG- Bloomsburg University's Jahri Evans (Philadelphia/Frankfurt) has been invited to work out in the 2006 NFL Scouting Combine. Over 300 prospects from 107 universities will take part in the scouting combine, set to take place February 22-28th at the RCA Dome in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Jahri Evans

A 6-4 340 pound offensive tackle, Evans helped lead the Huskies to an undefeated regular season and a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Championship. He anchored a line that was ranked eight nationally in rushing offense at 284.3 yards per game and was 10th in total offense with 473.4 yards per game. Evans graded out at 95% each game and was involved in many second and third level blocks and numerous pancake blocks. He was also part of an offensive line that allowed just 13 sacks in 12 games. In addition, Evans' blocking allowed 46 of the team's 66 touchdowns (69 percent) to come on the ground.

In addition, Evans racked up numerous All-American awards during his senior year. Evans was named to the first team Don Hansen All-America team, first team American Coaches Association (AFCA) All-America team, Daktronics first-team All-American, and first team D2football.com All-American team. He was also a two-time finalist for the Gene Upshaw Award, which honors the nation's top lineman in Division II each season.

Scouts Inc. describes Evans as "A massive offensive line prospect, who has a quick set and anchor versus the strongest bull rushers... He can be overwhelming at the point of attack as a run blocker. He drives his legs, plays with a mean streak and works to finish."

Of the 300 plus prospects invited to the combine, Evans is one of only six Division II players invited to the combine. The list of invites was compiled by a selection committee comprised of members of the National and Blesto scouting services as well as separate members of player personnel departments from independent teams. "It feels good to be invited and show my test numbers up against the Division I guys," said Evans when asked about being invited.

The NFL Draft will take place April 29-30th in New York City and will be aired on ESPN.
