Bloomsburg's Jahri Evans Earns Award
BLOOMSBURG—Bloomsburg University All-American offensive tackle Jahri Evans (Philadelphia/Frankford) has been named the Don Hansen Football Gazette Division II Offensive Lineman of the Week for his play against East Stroudsburg.
Evans led an offensive line that powered its way to 346 yards on the ground and did not allow a sack. In all, the Huskies' offense totaled 506 yards of offense on its way to a 31-24, overtime win against the Warriors.
A 6-4, 340 pound senior, Evans is a co-captain for the Huskies this year. As a junior, Evans was named Associated Press Little All-American in 2004 and also made AFCA 1st team All-American, Daktronics 1st team All-Northeast Region, PSAC 1st team All- Conference and was a finalist for the Gene Upshaw Offensive Player of the Year Award presented by the Manheim, PA Touchdown Club. Evans was the top vote-getter at his position in the Daktronics balloting, voted on by the Sports Information Directors. A two year starter, Evans graded out at over 90 percent for the season and averaged four pancake blocks per contest.
Bloomsburg, 6-0, will host Kutztown on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in a Parent's Day game.
