Bloomsburg's Brittingham Nominated for Harlon Hill Award


BLOOMSBURG— Bloomsburg University tailback Jamar Brittingham (Levittown/ Neshaminy) has been announced as one of the 26 candidates who are in the running for the 2005 Harlon Hill Trophy as the NCAA Division II College Football Player of the year. The list of candidates was announced Sunday by the National Harlon Hill Award Committee.

Brittingham is one of six players nominated from the north east region. Antoine Bagwell of California (Pa), Robin Blount of C.W. Post, Joey Conrad of Glenville State, Derrick Stickles of West Liberty and Jimmy Terwilliger of East Stroudsburg were also nominated from the Northeast region.

Brittingham leads Division II averaging 182.5 yards per game and is tied for first in scoring averaging 18 points per game. He has 30 touchdowns on the season (28 rushing, 2 receiving). Last week, he broke the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) record for most touchdowns in a season.

Players are nominated and voted on by the sports information directors at the 150 NCAA Division II football-playing institutions. The 26 initial candidates will be place on regional ballots and the top two players from each of the four NCAA regions will advance to the national ballot when regional voting concludes on November 14th.

The winner of the 2005 award, which is presented by the National Harlon Hill Award Committee, will be announced December 9th.
