Bloomsburg Downs Lock Haven in Football
GAME STATS
LOCK HAVEN —Tailback Jamar Brittingham (Levittown/Neshaminy) rushed for a game-high 119 yards and scored three touchdowns to lead Bloomsburg University to a 63-0 win over Lock Haven on Saturday in college football action.
The Huskies scored early and often in the game quickly opening a 28-0 first quarter lead with Brittingham, Division II's leading scorer, notching two touchdowns. Brittingham entered the game averaging 18 points per game and kept that average with his three scores.
In the opening period, Brittingham scored on runs of 16 and 11 yards, while quarterback Jack Lydic (Selinsgrove/Selinsgrove) connected with Greg Masters (Sayre/Athens) on a 70-yard pass play. In addition, Lydic also scored on a one-yard plunge.
By halftime Bloomsburg led 49-0 on the strength of a 39-yard scoring run by Brittingham and a five-yard run by Tony Ruth (Stewartstown/Kennard-Dale).
In the second half of play, the Huskies got scoring runs from Ruth, Kyle Ream (Elliotsburg/West Perry) and Christian Allen (Pottstown/Pottstown).
In all, the Huskies rushed 62 times for 372 yards and eight rushing scoring.
Defensively, the Huskies held Lock Haven to 134 yards of total offense and individually were led by Glenn Connolly with five tackles.
The shutout of Lock Haven is the second straight that the Huskies have held the Bald Eagles scoreless. It also marks the first time since 1995 and 1996 that the Huskies have shutout the same opponent in consecutive years (Cheyney in 1995 and 1996).
Bloomsburg, 4-0 for the first time since 2001, will visit Indiana (PA) on Saturday at 1 p.m. Lock Haven falls to 1-3 with the loss.
