Bloomsburg Football Players Selected for Post-Season Games
BLOOMSBURG — Two members of the Bloomsburg University football team have been chosen to play in post-season all-star games. Selected to the Las Vegas All-American Classic was offensive lineman Jahri Evans (Philadelphia/Frankford), while defensive lineman Todd White (Union, NJ/Union) was chosen for the Cactus Bowl.
Evans, a 6-4, 340 pound offensive guard, will play in the will play in the predominantly Division I Las Vegas All-American Classic in Las Vegas, Nev. on Jan. 14, 2006. The all-star contest is in its second year at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas and will be televised on CSTV: College Sports Television. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. Pacific Standard Time. Evans was part of an offensive line that helped the Huskies rank sixth in nationally rushing yards per game with 293.9 and 12th in total offensive with 458.8 YPG. He also helped limit opponents to just 13 quarterback sacks in12 games. Evans also helped block for Division II’s leading rusher and scorer (Jamar Brittingham).
Evans was a 2004 was a finalist for the Upshaw Award and was named first team AP little All-America and first team AFCA All-America. He was also selected to Daktronics first team All-Northeast Region team; first team Don Hansen All-Northeast; first team D-II football.com All-American; and first team All-PSAC East. Named first team All-PSAC East in 2004 and 2005.
White, 6-1, 340 pound defensive tackle, ended the season with a career-high 43 tackles, 22 of them solo. He also had 3.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks on the year, while recovering two fumbles. His best game of the year came against Slippery Rock when he made eight stops. He is a two-time second team All-PSAC East selection.
