Bloomsburg Football Sweeps PSAC East Player of the Week Honors

BLOOMSBURG— The Bloomsburg University football team swept this week's Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East Player of the Week awards. Tailback Jamar Brittingham (Levittown/ Neshaminy) won PSAC East Offensive Player of the Week and defensive back Tyler Trettin (Hummelstown/ Hershey) won PSAC East Defensive Player of the Week for their efforts in the Huskies 42-35 victory over West Chester on Saturday.

Brittingham ran for 211 yards and three touchdowns, including the game winner with 47 seconds left, and caught six passes for 78 yards and a touchdown. Brittingham now holds the PSAC record for rushing touchdowns in a season with 28. He passed former Bloomsburg tailback Irv Sigler who rushed for 25 touchdowns in 1996. Brittingham also ranks first in the nation in rushing averaging 182.5 yards per game and is tied for first in scoring averaging 18 points per game. This is the fifth time this season that Brittingham has won the player of the week award.

Trettin came up with several big plays on defense to help the Huskies clinch a share of the PSAC East title. Trettin finished with 11 tackles, seven solos, forced a fumble and intercepted a pass. His interception led to a late first half touchdown for Bloomsburg.

The Huskies will look to finish the regular season undefeated when they host Millersville on Saturday starting at 1 p.m.
