Bloomsburg Gridders Named Pre-Season All-American
BLOOMSBURG—Two Bloomsburg University football players, Jahri Evans (Frankford/Philadelphia) and John Moser (Newmanstown/ELCO), have earned pre-season All-American honors from Don Hansen's Football Gazette. In addition, Evans was also named pre-season All-American by d2football.com.
Evans, a 6-4, 340 pound tackle, and Moser, a 6-2, 270 pound guard, are part of a Bloomsburg offensive line that paved the way a year ago for the Huskies to rush for nearly 300 yards game, tops in the PSAC by more than 40 yards per game.
Both players earned All-PSAC East honors a year ago with Evans also earning All-American honors from the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA), the Associated Press and d2football.com. Evans was also a finalist for the Gene Upshaw Lineman of the Year Award.
Bloomsburg opens its 2005 season on Saturday, Aug. 27th hosting Slippery Rock at 1 p.m. at Redman Stadium. Prior to the game the Bloomsburg mascot, Roongo the Husky, will show the results of its extreme makeover as it arrives in the WNEP-TV helicopter to deliver the game ball.
