Bloomsburg Football Moves up in National Rankings
BLOOMSBURG— The Bloomsburg University football moved up in the rankings of two division two national polls. The Huskies moved up to 20 from 21 in the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division II Coaches' Top 25 poll. Bloomsburg also moved up in rank in the d2football.com poll to the 16th spot from 18.
The Huskies remained undefeated on the season with their second straight shutout in a 27-0 win over IUP on Saturday. Jamar Brittingham led the way for the Huskies with a game-high 246 rushing yards on 34 carries and two touchdowns. Josh Heck scored the other two touchdowns for Bloomsburg, while rushing for 47 yards on 14 carries.
Brittingham and defensive back Keith Davis swept the weekly PSAC awards this week awarded to the conferences top offensive and defensive players of the week. In the win over IUP, Davis had six tackles, one for a loss, an interception, and a sack. Davis' interception was returned 29 yards to the Indians eight yard line and setup Brittingham's second touchdown.
Bloomsburg moves to 5-0 on the season and will travel to East Stroudsburg on Saturday to take on the third ranked Warriors at 1:05 p.m.
