Bloomsburg Downs Mansfield in Football For Seventh Straight Win

MANSFIELD--Quarterback Dan Latorre (Elysburg/Southern Columbia) threw for 153 yards and one score to lead Bloomsburg University to a 31-7 win over Mansfield University on Saturday. It was the seventh straight for the Huskies.
Bloomsburg (7-1, 3-0 PSAC East) got on the board on its first drive of the game when Luke Kuklick (North Wales/North Penn) caught a 44-yard pass from Latorre to put the Huskies in front 7-0.
The Huskies made it 14-0 when freshman Stefan Adams (West Chester/Henderson) scored his first collegiate touchdown on a 15-yard run on the first play of the second period. Later in the period, Bloomsburg's Christian Allen (Pottstown/Pottstown) ran seven yards for a touchdown to cap a 79-yard drive to put the Huskies up by a 21-0 score.
Bloomsburg went up by a 28-0 score just before halftime when backup quarterback Matt Freedman (Holland/Council Rock South) connected with Brahin Bilal (Philadelphia/Lincon) for 16-yard touchdown.
Mansfield, which was held to just 37 yards of offense in the opening half, finally got on the board in the third period when Kevon Calhoun scored on a six-yard run to make it 28-7.
Bloomsburg capped the day's scoring when Jon Koenig (Pine Grove/Pine Grove) made a career-long 40-yard field goal to make the final, 31-7.
Latorre, who played only a quarter and a half before giving way to Freeman, finished the day 7 of 11 for 153 yards and the one touchdown. Josh Heck (Hazleton/Hazleton) led the rushing attack with 77 yards on 19 carries, while Adams finished with a career-high 62 yards and one score.
Defensively, Darnell Hayes (Williamsport/Williamsport) and Jermaine Booker (Philadelphia/Mastbaum) led Bloomsburg with seven tackles each.
Bloomsburg will visit Millersville next week at 1 p.m.
