BLOOMSBURG -- After turning in a stellar performance against Division 1-AA power James Madison University (JMU) on Saturday, the Bloomsburg University defensive unit earned the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Player of the Week award.

In the Huskies 14-3 loss to the 2004 NCAA D-I AA national champs, Bloomsburg held JMU to just 219 yards of total offense, nine first downs and just over 24 minutes of possession time. Bloomsburg's defensive squad, led by Zac Barton, Tyler Trettin and Matt Smith also forced nine punts and did not allow any points until the fourth period, including one score with less than a minute to play.

Bloomsburg, 0-1, will play its home opener on Saturday against California (PA) at 1 p.m. at Redman Stadium. Gates open at 11 a.m. with lots of pre-activities planned.
