Bloomsburg Football Prepares for Upcoming Spring Game
April 26, 2006
BLOOMSBURG- The Bloomsburg University football team will play its Spring game on April 29 at 11 a.m. in Redman Stadium. After a month of practice, the Huskies will culminate the spring season with the annual Maroon vs. Gold game.
The game will provide a good opportunity to for the coaching to staff to evaluate young talent as well being able to see players in realistic game situations. "Sometimes players react differently in the pressure situations of a game", said head coach Danny Hale.
The spring game will also go a long way in deciding who will be this year's starting quarterback. Bloomsburg lost quarterback Jack Lydic to graduation after last season. "Our quarterback situation is taking shape," said Hale. "Matt Freedman (Holland/Council Rock South) and Danny Lattore (Elysburg/ Southern Columbia) have stepped up their play and this game will be important to both. Kyle Ream (Elliotsburg/ West Perry) is also being used at wide receiver and is impressing everyone." Other young players that should make an impression this spring are freshmen defensive backs Jesse Cooper (Sewell, NJ/ Washington Twp) and Domenique Price (Easton/ Easton).
Bloomsburg's regular season opener will be at James Madison University on September 2nd at 6 p.m.
