Bloomsburg Football Team Announces Captain's for 2008 Campaign

BLOOMSBURG- The Bloomsburg University football team has announced that Kyle Ream (Elliottsburg/West Perry) and Jon Ochs (Wind Gap/Nazareth) have been named captains for the 2008 football season.

"Both Kyle and Jon are of impeccable character. They are both worthy of the captaincy," said head coach Danny Hale. "Both are excellent in the class room and both are highly conditioned athletes. They should be great leaders for the 2008 season."

Ream, a senior, started all 10 games for the Huskies in 2007. He finished with 29 receptions for 461 yards and four touchdowns, averaging almost 16 yards per reception. For his career, Ream has 35 catches for 587 yards and five touchdowns. With the departure of All-PSAC receiver Brahin Bilal, Ream will look to fill the void as the go-to receiver for quarterback Dan Latorre.

Ochs, a senior, had a break-out year for the Huskies in 2007. He finished with 27 tackles including six for loss, which tied for the team lead. He also had two sacks, four passes broken up and a fumble recovery. For his career, Ochs has 43 tackles and seven tackles for loss.

The 2008 Huskies will return eight starters on offense, four on defense.

The Huskies will hold their annual Maroon and Gold football scrimmage April 26 at 11 a.m. at Bloomsburg High School stadium. The game will be played at Bloomsburg High School due to renovation at Bloomsburg University's Redman Stadium.
