Bloomsburg University Holds Spring Football Game
BLOOMSBURG-- Defense ruled the day at the Bloomsburg University annual Maroon and Gold Spring football game. Using a modified scoring system, the Bloomsburg defense posted a 27-0 shutout over the offense.
The defense, which recorded a point for a four-down stop and got two-points for a turnover, recorded three turnovers in the game and stopped the offense on 19 possessions.
Red-shirt freshman linebacker Mark Keely (Reading/Holy Name) had both an interception and a fumble recovery and a pass breakup, while defensive back Mark Radio (Nazareth/Nazareth) also recovered a fumble. In addition, Anthony Smith (Pottstown/Pottstown) and Justin Pressley (Philadelphia/George Washington) came up with sacks for the maroon defense.
Offensively, Jamar Brittingham (Levittown/Neshaminy) rushed 13 times for 56 yards, while quarterback Dan Latorre (Elysburg/Southern Columbia) was unofficially 5 of 14 with an interception for 47 yards.
Bloomsburg, which won the NCAA Northeast Region championship and was a national semifinalist last year, will open its 2007 season at home with C.W. Post on Saturday, September 1 at 12 noon.
