Bloomsburg Football Players Ochs and Bosso Named Daktronics All-Region Choices

BLOOMSBURG-Bloomsburg University football players Jon Ochs (Wind Gap/ Nazareth) and Matt Bosso (Camp Hill/Camp Hill) have been named to the 2008 Daktronics Division II All-Super One Regional first team as selected by the region's sports information directors.

For Ochs, the honor is the latest in a string of post-season honors for the senior defensive lineman. Ochs, who tied for being the top vote recipient at his position, was previously named a first team 2008 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and was first team All-PSAC East.

On the field, Ochs leads the entire PSAC in sacks with eight for losses of 67 yards and tied for second in tackles for loss with 17.5 for losses of 88 yards. Overall he has made 49 total tackles, 35 of them solo, and forced five fumbles and recovered one other. A 2008 co-captain, Ochs was named PSAC East Defensive Player of the Week for September 13th after his standout performance during Bloomsburg's 24-0 shutout against Mercyhurst College. During the game, Ochs had six solo tackles, four of which were tackles for loss and three of which were sacks. His four tackles for loss totaled 34 yards and his three sacks resulted in 32 yards lost.

Ochs is a first year graduate student studying Business Administration and has a GPA of 3.89 at Bloomsburg.

Bosso, 6-2, 315 pounder, was a two-time first team All-PSAC East selection and was the top-vote getter at his position in the balloting. He helped the Huskies rush for more than 266 yards per game and was part of an offensive line that allowed just 17 sacks in 12 games. He also helped block for an offensive unit that had a freshman gain more than 1,000 yards; had five different players rush for more than 100 yards in a game and that, overall, averaged more than 5.5 yards per carry.

Bloomsburg finished the year with an 11-2 record and advanced to the NCAA Division II regional finals for the second time in three years.
