Bloomsburg University Football Ranked First in Regional Rankings


BLOOMSBURG- The Bloomsburg University football team is once again the top seed in the NCAA Super Regional 1 for the week of October 19th. The NCAA Super Regional determines the playoff seeding in each geographical region.

In addition, the Huskies have climbed in both the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division II Coaches' Poll and the D2Football.com Top 25 Media Poll since last week. The Huskies are ranked 4th in the AFCA poll and 6th in the D2Football.com poll, up one spot in each poll from last week.

Grand Valley State, Abilene Christian (Texas), Northwest Missouri State, Bloomsburg and Delta State (Miss.) comprise the top five in the AFCA poll. Other PSAC teams in the top 25 this week include California (Pa.) ranked 6th, Edinboro climbing to 15th, IUP in at 21st, and West Chester at 24th.

The Huskies improved to 8-0 this past Saturday with a 43-7 victory over Cheyney University. James Sweeting III (Hughesville/Hughesville) rushed for 116 yards and Marc Best (Bushkill/East Stroudsburg North) rushed for 104 yards to lift the Huskies to their 13th consecutive victory, the third longest active winning streak in all divisions of college football.

The unbeaten Huskies will travel to Shippensburg on Saturday for a 12:30 p.m. kick-off. The game will be televised by SportsFever TV. Check your local listings for availability.
