Bloomsburg University Football Ranked First in Regional Rankings


BLOOMSBURG- The Bloomsburg University football team is ranked first in the NCAA Super Regional 1 for the fourth consecutive week. The NCAA Super Regional determines the playoff seeding in each geographical region.

The Huskies are 9-0 and winners of 14 straight games, the second longest active winning streak in all divisions of college football.

In addition, the Huskies are ranked fourth in the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division II Coaches' Poll and sixth in the D2Football.com Top 25 Media Poll. This marks the second consecutive week the Huskies have been ranked in the top five of the AFCA poll.

Grand Valley State, Abilene Christian (Texas), Northwest Missouri State, Bloomsburg and Delta State (Miss.) once again comprise the top five in the AFCA poll. Other PSAC teams in the top 25 this week include California (Pa.) ranked 7th, IUP at 18st, West Chester at 19th, and Edinboro falling to 21st.

The Huskies improved to 9-0 this past Saturday with a 21-0 victory over Shippensburg University. Quarterback Dan Latorre (Elysburg/Southern Columbia) rushed for a career-high 125 yards and two touchdowns and tailback Derrick Price (Burlington, NJ/Burlington City) added 111 more on the ground.

Kickoff for the Huskies homecoming football game with West Chester on Saturday is set for 3:30 p.m. Tickets are $8 for adults and $3 for students and seniors. A second ticket booth will be open at the student gate for all fans. A shuttle bus will be running from the blue lot to Redman Stadium on game day. The game will be televised state-wide by SportsFever TV. Check your local listings for availability.
