Bloomsburg University Football Ends Season First in Regional Poll
BLOOMSBURG- The Bloomsburg University football team is once again the top seed in the NCAA Super Regional 1 following 38-10 victory over Gannon University on Saturday. The Huskies finished the regular season with a record of 10-1, the third time in the last four years Bloomsburg has won at least 10 games in a season.
In addition, the Huskies are ranked 14th in the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division II Coaches' Poll and climb two spots in the D2Football.com Top 25 Media Poll to16th. The Huskies have been raked every week during the 2008 football season.
In the Regional Rankings, California (Pa) is the second seed, followed by American International, West Chester, Southern Connecticut, Edinboro and Seton Hill. Because of earned access, a rule that ensures that every conference in a region has a representative in the playoffs, Seton Hill will play as the #6 seed over Edinboro.
Grand Valley State, Abilene Christian (Texas), Northwest Missouri State, Delta State (Miss.) and North Alabama finish the regular season as the top five teams in the AFCA poll.
The Huskies finished the season 10-1 this past Saturday with a 38-10 win over Gannon. Quarterback Dan Latorre (Elysburg/Southern Columbia) passed for 208 yards and three touchdowns and ran for another, while Kyle Ream (Eliottsburg/West Perry) finished with seven catches for 98 yards and two scores.
The Huskies now await the winner of the West Chester vs. Southern Connecticut match-up on Saturday. Bloomsburg will host the winner of that game Saturday, November 22nd in a noon kick at Redman Stadium.
