Notes from Thursday's practices

-Cooper, Landis, redshirt freshman Chris Boyer and freshman Brandon Real took turns returning punts.
-Sophomore wide receiver Keter Crosby made several acrobatic catches during the 7-on-7 period.
-The offense worked exclusively in the no-huddle during the morning team portion of practice.
-Sophomores Mike Wagner and Pat Carey took turns at quarterback with the second team offense.
-Senior Anthony Smith and juniors Thomas McFarland and Mike Varanavage took reps at the linebacker positions with the first team defense. Defensive coordinator Paul Darragh acknowledges the Huskies depth at linebacker and has taken advantage by getting the younger players chances with the first and second team.

-The starting offensive line group featured sophomore Daryl Kurtz, junior Pat Casey, senior Tyler Azzalina, junior Justin Walker and junior Matt Trustcott from left to right.
-Cooper, Real and sophomore Branden Wright took turns returning kickoffs in the afternoon.
-The offense looked sharp during the afternoon practice. Sophomore running backs Derrick Price and Kenny Domzalski had several nice runs. Senior fullback Stefan Adams took reps at tailback in short yardage situations, breaking tackles and ripping off a few nice runs. Senior quarterback Dan Latorre also showed off his wheels, taking off around the corner on a bootleg.
-No major injuries to report other than a few minor dings. The Huskies coaches are keeping some players out as a precaution.
The Huskies will hold a scrimmage on Sunday, August 16, at 2:00 p.m. It will be open to the public.
