BLOOMSBURG--Bloomsburg University field hockey player Krista Engle (Liverpool/Greenwood HS) has been named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Field Hockey Player of the Week for the period ending Sunday, Sept. 10.
In three games last week Engle scored six goals to lead the Huskies to three victories. She started the week with a goal against Messiah College, had her first career hat-trick in a 3-2 win over the University of Scranton and followed that up with a pair of goals in a 7-0 win over Southern Connecticut Sunday. Engle's only other multi-goal game came during the 1998 season.
Engle, a 1999 second-team All-American, leads the Huskies in scoring this season with seven goals and two assists for 16 points. She is a two-time member of the National Field Hockey Coaches Association National Academic squad and scored the game-winning goal in the 1998 NCAA field hockey championship game against Lock Haven.
Bloomsburg, 4-0, is the four-time defending NCAA Division II champions. The Huskies have won 24 straight games and 58 of their last 59. They are ranked number one in the first National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFCA) Division II poll of the season.
