Field Hockey Ranked First in National Poll

BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University field hockey team is ranked number one in the first 2002 STX/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division II poll of the year.

The Huskies, 3-0, received six of 12 first place votes and edged PSAC opponent Shippensburg for first place by one point (105 to 104). The Huskies most recent win came off a 9-0 rout of Scranton University on Saturday.

Nikki Hartranft (Oley/Oley Valley) leads the Huskies in scoring with three goals while Sharla Partlon (Langhorne/Neshaminy), Sheila Zilinski (Barto/Boyertown) and Marie Zorzi (Mountaintop/Crestwood) have two goals and two assists apiece.

Bloomsburg hosts C.W. Post Thursday at 4 p.m.
